The internet and social media is bigger than ever before. The Mumbai blasts and the reaction of the people on Twitter startled the mainstream media. And it seems that the social media at large will have a say at forth coming Lok Sabha elections as well. L.K. Advani, BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate has released his website. Here is the link. Indian politicians are definitely ‘inspired’ by their American counterparts. Quality wise, the website of Barack Obama and L.K. Advani is beyond comparison, for very evident reasons. I will write another post about it another day.
However, it is beyond doubt that the political parties will have to depend on the door to door campaign and rallies to get the votes. Such online initiatives can however drive the urban educated youth (like you and me) to the election booth. Let us hope that the elections in India create as much hype on the web as it did during the US elections.
Keep smiling and stay hungry.
Spot on, sire.
Hardly two percent of the populace has access to the internet. Maybe 10% of all the internet users would bother clicking all these political links!!
Online campaigning is not goana make much of a difference, yes!
