For a farmer who has spent his whole life farming the secular government gives Rs. 250 as pension. For an Islamic religious teacher who teaches in madrassa for 10 years the same secular government gives Rs 4000 as pension. Is it secular to give Muslim religious schools money that the government collects as tax? If yes, why doesn’t the ‘secular’ government give money to all religious schools including Hindu temples? The money given as pension for the madrassa teachers is collected as tax from the common man without looking at their religion or caste. Is this real secularism?
When science, technology, English and computers are taught in schools; madrassas teach religious laws and our ‘secular’ government is equating both by giving CBSE status to madrassas. It is easy to get certified by the CBSE board without studying the tough CBSE syllabus and writing the exam – what an irony. Who has brought in these reforms? Look no further – the same minister who became very infamous among the Indian youth for bringing in 50% reservation in higher education colleges – Mr. Arjun Singh. How can people applying for “higher education” to institutions like IIMs still be considered backward? All this is obviously supported by the government and it is beyond doubt that these are cheap votebank politics. What is more? The Congress manifesto 2009 reads “Reservation of jobs in private sector”.
While none of the mosques, churches or gurudwaras in the country comes under the government only the Hindu temples are taxed and all the money that comes into the temple goes to the government treasury. Is this real secularism? No wonder India has more money in Swiss bank than the rest of the world put together. (Rest of the world includes USA, UK and all other the developed/developing countries of the world.) And keeping in mind that congress is ruling this country for 60 years it is easy to guess who “invested” so much money there.
‘Community and caste’ based reservation is at its highest in a “secular” country. The word secular is defined as “the state of being separate from religion; separate the government from religion” It is for you to decide whether this government is secular or is it making policies for minority appeasement!
The UPA Government has allotted several crores of Rupees for the upliftment of the minorities based on religion. Does poverty have religion? Why is the government is declaring policies based on religion and creating further splits in the society?
Act against this pseudo secularism. Stand in the voting queue for 1-2 hours and vote for change! Let’s use this opportunity to throw away this government who make policies for vote banks and minority appeasement. Take action.
Very VERY valid point!! I strongly oppose the UPA government for its stance on reservations. Minority appeasement has gone beyond its limits!
“No wonder India has more money in Swiss bank than the rest of the world put together. (Rest of the world includes USA, UK and all other the developed/developing countries of the world.)”
OMG!! Is this true? GAWD, I never knew that!
I didn’t vote for change, this time. I would have, had the Congress candidate in my area been someone else.

People say if all this money is brought back, we can pay 40 crore farmers 1 lakh each, and the remaining if put in bank will generate an interest more than the buget every year. That is, the government would function in the same way even without taxes.
Sad to know that you didn’t vote for change. I agree Mr. Tharoor is a “good person” but the fact that he represents Congress makes me vote against him.
